    How can I reuse products?

There are many ways to reuse products.  For example, you can:

    • Donate books and magazines to libraries or nursing homes.
    • Reuse bags for grocery and department store items.

Use this thread to list ideas of what can be reused!

I reuse the butter dishes to store leftovers in.

The other thing I have been doing because i read so much is I have started swapping my books with other people. I have donated them to the libary also.

I reuse a lot of my plastic bottles for items like buttons and coins. I also reuse them for water for when I go jogging or hiking.

I use coffee tins for storing and organizing small items.

I've been making my own liquid hand soap out of the slivers of bars for years now.   It seems to never run out!

I donate all of the clothes I no longer am wearing.  I also take whatever plastic bags are around from shopping and use them as green bin bags or trash bags - but now the supplying for that is dwindling since using reusable bags haha.

All such wonderful ideas. I use all my leftover coffee cans, butter tubs etc for my Christmas cookies, I give and donate at Xmas time. I also use them to mail my nephews in  Iraq. I do the pooecorn packing too. i pop up a ton of corn , the kids love this, and use the leftover for my Xmas packing. If it involves food.

We don't have any recyclers locally so its hard for us to contribute in that way so I have found MANY ways to reuse products. For example anything paper (junk mail, newspapers, and thin cardboard) I hand shred and use for packing to ship my ebay items as well as plastic bags from walmart etc.. I recycle our clothes by donating the "not so perfect" ones to the SOS and I list the others on ebay.  I give some of our milk jugs, egg crates, jelly jars, shampoo bottles etc etc to the school which they use for crafts. I reuse our dryer sheets during the winter to dust with...

Crafts, donations, Boys and Girls scouts, yard sales... All work well to get rid of stuff you don't want, but hate to throw away!

Donating gently used clothing is a really good way to get rid of the articles that you can't sell on Ebay. I sell everything that I don't want anymore, and if it doesn't sell, I donate it. I like to think that others get good use out of things that I did.

Donating clothing is my favorite way to reuse items, It helps so many people who need then but cannot buy them at retail prices.

I use my Swiffer clothes over, instead of throwing them out. I wash them and resuse. I use plastic coffee cans, when I get them, for nails, etc. I also water plants with my koi pond water that my filter discards. Great fertilizer!

Great ideas all. I think we all should make a section for all these suggections. Maybe they could be published at some time for our members??

I reuse old shampoo bottles in the summer time for the kids to use as water guns. Also reuse some of the sandwich bags after I wash and dry them.

I reuse sandwich bags whenever possible.  My husband gets all the coffee cans and margarine tubs for sorting all those little things he collects in the garage, screws, nuts, bolts, etc.

My kids think empty shampoo bottles are the best bath toys, and then they go to the recycler.  The bottles, not the kids . . .

Any time we end up with a plastic water bottle, we reuse it for taking along tap water or other drinks on road trips.

I have made a habit of asking myself "can I reuse this" before throwing something out. We also donate many items to our local charities.

I reuse supermarket bags as trash bags. Any good container or jar gets put away for later use.
